Mayer Motorsports Driver Jim Ferguson Clinches Jim Russell Karting Championship Series
Team MMI drivers finish first and fourth in premier six-race regional karting series

LIVERMORE, Calif., October 24, 2003 – Mayer Motorsports Inc., (MMI) a leading northern California karting shop, announced today that Team MMI drivers Jim Ferguson won the TaG Heavy class and Brian Ferrario finished fourth in points in the 2003 Jim Russell Karting Championship Series, which was held exclusively at the Infineon Raceway Karting Center.

Ferguson managed to best an average of 17 drivers per race in one of the most competitive classes in the series to take the six-race points championship. Ferguson earned the coveted top prize that includes a three-day Russell Racing Techniques of Racing course valued at $2,695. By finishing fourth in the TaG heavy class championship, Ferrario earned his spot among the other second through fifth place drivers for each class who will be entered into a lottery for the remaining nine Techniques of Racing course scholarships.

"We're thrilled with the results of our drivers and the first season tuning the Rocket Kart to be competitive on the track, said Bill Mayer, CEO of Mayer Motorsports. "I don't think people outside of Northern California understand how much it means to win the Jim Russell Karting Championship Series, especially in the competitive TaG class, which includes Parilla and BM engines, especially for a karting shop that focuses on the grass-roots racer. The class boasts some of the best up and coming and veteran drivers, including regional and national talent. Jim Ferguson proved to be an outstanding adaptable driver and Brian Ferrario shined in his rookie season in karting."
